St. Joseph Parish Christian Service Commission meets on the first Tuesday of the months September-June; 7:30- 9:00 PM in the conference room in the main office corridor. Sub-committees of the commission are Justice and Peace, Disability Concerns, Health Advocacy, Parish Services, Life Issues, and Legislative Concerns. Annual standing projects and events also include the September Prison Ministry BackPack Collection, the Advent Sharing Tree, the June Baby Shower for Catholic Social Services, the biannual St. Vincent de Paul Bundle weekends, and three Fund-raising Dinners.

I pray for your continued strength to be strong in the face of adversity.

I pray that your hope, courage, and dignity will remain intact so that you may show others the way.

Disability Concerns

To assist members of the Parish to welcome and include persons with disabilities and their families into Parish life and to sensitize the Parish to the gifts and needs of the disabled

Life Issues

To address and act on those issues which have an impact on the dignity of human life.

  • Convalescent Homes Bingo, mass & events;
  • Respect Life Month & Awareness;
  • Environmental Issues;
  • Prison Ministry;
  • Advent Sharing Tree and CSS Baby Shower

Northfield Place Bingo:
Prizes are always needed for the Bingo Prize Cart at the Whitmore Lake-based convalescent home. Canned potato chips, jewelry, men's and women's colognes, full-sized toiletries, and boxes of candy bars would be great. Quarters are always appreciated, too, for the center's vending machines. If you would like more information on volunteering at Northfield Place Convalescent Home, please call Pat Luther at 248-437-7489.

St. Joseph Parish Society of St. Vincent de Paul
You may know the Society as the Sunday morning Doughnut and Coffee Hosts, but did you also know that they contribute to charitable organizations in the area, help qualified individuals with rent and utilities, and support St. Dominic Community Outreach in Detroit to name only a few of their outreach projects. In response to the difficult economic times facing metro Detroit and the entire State of Michigan, His Eminence Adam Cardinal Maida, archbishop of Detroit and chairman of the MCC Board of Directors, has composed a pastoral letter on the economy titled Christ Our Hope. Sacraments And Pastoral Concerns

Sacrament of Baptism
The sacrament of baptism is ordinarily celebrated on the second and fourth Sundays of the month following the 12:00 Noon Mass. Please call the Parish Office at 248-446-8700, at least two months in advance in order to make arrangements. There is a required Baptismal prep class which is normally offered on the second Monday of each month. Please call the Parish

Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults
(RCIA) is the process whereby new members are initiated into the Catholic Church through the sacraments of baptism, confirmation and eucharist, and baptized Catholics may complete their initiation. For information, call Cathy Borsh, Pastoral Associate, Ext. 109.

Sacrament of Marriage
Please call the Parish Office at least 6 months before the proposed marriage dates in order to arrange for the necessary preparation. An appointment is necessary before a wedding date may be scheduled.
