Adult Formation

 Adult Faith Formation

Faith development is an ongoing journey at Saint Joseph Parish that should not end upon the reception of the Sacrament of Confirmation.  Throughout the year we offer a variety of opportunities for Catholic adults to deepen their understanding of the Catholic Church; our history, our customs and rituals, and our understanding of Sacred Scripture.  We often schedule speakers to help learn new ways to live out faith in the secular world. Topics range from good stewardship of earth’s resources to financial planning.

INTERESTED IN BECOMING CATHOLIC?

Do you know someone who may be interested in completing the

SACRAMENTS OF INITIATION?

Let’s Talk!  Our RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) is for those who are unbaptized and/or have no religious formation, and is already taking shape .  Several people in our community have felt the stirring of the Holy Spirit call them to deeper relationship through the sacraments of the Catholic Church.  How about you?

Maybe you are not sure or need more information.  That’s OK , too.  We begin with a period of inquiry to answer your questions and hopefully ease any reservations you may be experiencing, while introducing you to Catholic practices, doctrine, teachings, and spiritual experiences.  There is no pressure or obligation –just truthful information and prayer. Come see what this is all about.

I also invite those who have been baptized but would like to complete the sacraments of initiation –Communion and/or Confirmation . Make this the year you deepen your faith through full initiation into the Church.

I further extend a personal invitation to anyone who has received all of these sacraments but has been away from the practice of their faith or is seeking to be updated or renewed in our Catholic Faith. Please feel free to atend any or all sessions!

Let’s talk about faith!

Other Adult Formation Opportunities...

This fall we will begin a series called  "Scripture from Scratch".  It takes the Bible and explains it in greater detail. For example...who were the stories written for and why is it relevant in our understanding of the story? Or... Is the Bible literal or not?...Once you have an understanding of what scripture is, it opens up a whole new exciting view. Let me know if you are interested in more information.

Also...

Catechist formation classes are offered several times in August and September and then just about once a month through April. Topics range from Vatican II to Mary to Catholic Social Teaching...All are invited to attend. Look in my bulletin article for dates, topics and times. An RSVP is appreciated if you would like to attend!
