Stewardship Prayer

My Church is composed of people like me. I help make it what it is. It will be friendly, if I am. Its pews will be filled, if I help fill them. It will do great work, if I work. It will make generous gifts to many causes, if I am a generous giver. It will bring other people into its worship and fellowship, if I invite and bring them. It will be a Church of loyalty and love, of fearlessness and faith, and a Church with a noble spirit, if I, who make it what it is, am filled with these same things. Therefore, with the help of God, I shall dedicate myself to the task of being all the things that I want my Church to be.

The Archdiocesan Safe Environments Policy states that all adults who are paid or volunteer personnel must have a criminal history background check and participate in a Protecting God’s Children Workshop.  The policy is very broad and includes most parish volunteers and those who volunteer in organizations, activities and ministries associated with the parish or using parish facilities.  Its purpose is, of course, to provide the safest environment possible for our children and those more vulnerable than ourselves.

No one – no matter who they are – has an automatic right to be around children or young people without proper screening and without following the rules.  What is your ministry in our parish??  Do you volunteer for Religious Formation, Vacation Bible School, Youth Group or work in the nursery?  Are you a retreat chaperone or driver, a field trip chaperone or driver, a scout leader or CYO coach?  Do you drive others to Mass or take communion to the homebound?  Are you an usher, a member of the Knights of Columbus or St. Vincent de Paul, or a volunteer in our parish offices?  This is only a general list.  If you are currently or are planning to volunteer, please register to participate in a Protecting God’s Children Workshop.

We all can make a difference.  Close your eyes – and think if YOU can help one other human being from being abused by another!!  A 3 hour workshop just doesn’t seem that bad, does it??????

For your convenience, we have 3 workshops scheduled at St. Joseph Parish in the Multi-Purpose Room.  There is no fee to participate.
